Baby Carrier Roundup

I’m one month into being a mom of two, and I’ve already logged so many hours babywearing my new little guy! I wore Barrett (my first son) all the time, so it’s been such a sweet trip down memory lane to dust off all my carriers for Owie boy.

I’ll be honest—I have what some might call an unnecessary amount of baby carriers. I’m not saying you need multiple options (you definitely don’t!), but since I’ve accumulated quite the collection, I thought I’d share what I love—and don’t love—about each one.

The Mabe Carrier

This is my newest addition to the lineup and quite possibly my favorite. I love this carrier. It’s incredibly comfortable, supportive, and cutie! I went with the denim option, and I love how it goes with pretty much anything I’m wearing. If you’re going to invest in just one carrier, this would be my top recommendation.

So far, the only con I’ve found is that it doesn’t have a chest clip for back carrying. Since Owen isn’t big enough for back carrying yet, I’m not sure if this will be an issue down the road, but I do love that my Ergo has a chest clip for that extra sense of security.

Ergo Embrace

The Ergo Embrace is similar in style to the Mabe but a bit less bulky and a little cozier. That said, it’s not the most supportive carrier, so once you’re past the newborn stage, it’s not one I’d reach for often. As much as I loved it with my first, I don’t think you need this and a carrier like the Mabe. It’s a bit redundant unless you’re really into having options for those early days.

Ergo Cool Air Adapt (now called Omni Breeze)

This carrier was a hand-me-down, and we used it all. the. time. with my first. Barrett practically lived in this thing—both on my chest and on my back. I believe this specific edition isn’t in circulation anymore, but after checking Ergo Baby’s website, it looks like the Omni Breeze is the latest and greatest version.

It’s super supportive and comfortable, and I love the little pull-out shade/rain guard (which has come in handy more times than I can count!). My only critique is that it’s a bit bulkier and not as aesthetically pleasing as some of the others. But as a working mom who’s on her feet all day, it’s a must-have for me.

Solly Baby Wrap

The Solly Baby Wrap is so sweet, cozy, and perfect for keeping your baby snug against your chest. I’ve only ever used mine during the newborn stage because, once your baby gets a bit heavier, the wrap doesn’t offer much support. That said, it’s great for hands-free snuggles in those early days.

One downside is that it takes a little practice to figure out how to put it on, but once you get the hang of it, it’s a breeze. Plus, they have so many cute patterns to choose from—it’s hard to pick just one!

Wildbird Ring Sling

In my opinion, the ring sling is more of a fun, extra carrier than an essential one. I love mine, but I don’t find it to be super hands-free. It’s great for quick carries, like at church, walking around the garden, or rocking the baby to sleep. But if I need to get things done around the house, it’s not my go-to. Still, it’s a beautiful and versatile option to have in your rotation.

If you want to see these carriers in action, I made a reel comparing all four! I hope this breakdown is helpful to you—let me know if you have any questions. I know there are so many carriers out there, and I wish I could review them all, but I think four is enough for me.

Happy babywearing!
