April Showers (& Tornado Warnings)

Well we got smacked this Friday by a pretty nasty thunderstorm. While Carrington and the boys huddled in the bathroom equipped with a bike helmet and a crib mattress, I did the typically male thing and watched the storm blow in standing by a window. Our house and our high tunnels didn't budge but the wind and rain did blow harder than I've ever seen in person for several minutes, much worse even than hurricane Beryl last July. I believe we also got at least 8 inches of rain within a pretty short period.

As a result, a lot of the flowers planted outdoors took a pounding; anything that was tall was layed over and all open flowers were rendered unsellable. That included some of the first delphinium, snapdragons, foxglove, and agrostemma. Fortunately, much of what we have planted will have time to recover and hopefully some of the flowers that were about to bloom will stand back up once the sun comes out. Any kind of loss is hard to tolerate, but maybe this is where some of that overplanting I talked about last week will prove its usefulness!

As far as what we have available for y'all to purchase this week, we do still have ranunulus, butterfly ranunculus, tulips, sweet peas, and more. This is the last week for ranunculus and we expect only 1 more week of tulips and butterfly ranunculus after this week so enjoy those while you can! We are so thankful for all of the support so far this season and we look forward to all of the fun things yet to bloom!
