Happy New Year! Whether you’re a resolutions person or not, I feel like many of us have a goal to cook at home more, wouldn’t you say? I’ve always loved cooking but sometimes I struggle coming up with what to make for dinner each night and I’ve talked to lots of friends who feel the same.

I’m a recipe gal. I love to follow a recipe (although it’s always a goal of mine to be more creative and be OK with straying from a recipe lol). But I do not like following a recipe on my phone or computer. I need it to either be in a cookbook or printed out. So years ago I started a recipe binder— inspired by my mom.

Barrett’s room is my favorite room in the house— it’s warm, cozy, peaceful and everything I envisioned for our baby boy’s room. I’ve been dreaming about this space for years and getting to finally put it all together was so fun and special for me. Seeing him sleeping in his crib and rocking him in our cozy corner is still surreal to me.

I know for many, summer brings about new rhythms and schedules, so if you haven’t taken the time to pause and reflect on a new month and what that could mean for you, I encourage you to take the time to do it! Here are some of my goals/things I’m excited about/my focus for June—

We just got back from our roadtrip to Nebraska to check on our peonies and whew— it was quite a drive (especially 34 weeks pregnant).

I really love this time of year. In the garden, things are lush and full of color and life slowly starts slipping into summer mode but the heat hasn’t quite taken over yet… Here are some of my goals/things I’m excited about/my focus for May—

This time of year is lovingly referred to as spike season. While ranunculus fade out and dahlias start to trickle in, the abundance of the field is what we call spikes— tall long flowers that often have many florets up a single stem.

One of our favorite times of year has come and gone— ranunculus season. These full-petaled, long lasting beauties are a labor of love and by no means easy to grow in Central Texas.

We are overjoyed to be expecting a tiny little one and we cannot wait to welcome him into our home and our world this summer! I’m a little over halfway through pregnancy at this point and it’s just starting to feel like reality and ahh we can’t wait.

To all the florists out there— this one is for you! We are a couple weeks into the launch of our Florist Shop and it has been so fun to get our flowers into the hands of florists around our community!

This summer has been flying by in spite of our attempts at an intentionally slow summer. Each July and August, we try to either pause or take a light wedding schedule to allow for much-needed time to recover and rejuvenate for the coming fall season.

Something that I have loved about the flower field lately is how grounding it is. While much of the world is either paused or in chaos, the flowers bloom even still. They provide respite from the confusion and pain and offer beauty that we crave. It’s hard work, don’t get me wrong— but hard work is good and grounding.

For my everyday coffee each morning, I use this Cusinart Coffee Maker that has a grinder built in. It truly makes the yummiest freshest cup for me each morning. I’ve had it for 2 years now and it works amazing.

Easy + simple, nothing fancy here.

The kettle to the left is what I use for hot tea, hot cocoa, etc!

In that amber pump bottle I keep liquid sugar in the raw to pump in for a little sweetener.
