As Valentine's Day Approaches
After nearly three months without an abundance of flowers, a winter warm spell is pushing all of our spring crops into overdrive and this stressed out farmer is very thankful for that! We spend all winter covering and uncovering our flowers on the coldest nights, monitoring for disease, constantly planting, and stressing over every detail until we have flowers to sell again and, frankly, money in our checking accounts.
This year our chrysanthemums sort of failed us (bloomed too late) and the slightly cooler climate we have moved to has pushed our season back two-ish weeks so the flower-less period was longer than ever before for us.
While we still won't have as many ranunculus and other early spring favorites as I would like yet, we will have a ton of fancy tulips for you guys. We mainly grow fringes, doubles, parrots, and other fancy types so stock up on the very best for all of your Valentine's needs! Although it will take some cataclysmic circumstances for me to stop growing them, the past two tulip bulb growing seasons in Holland have been among the worst in history, making these spring favorites especially precious and expensive for us to grow.
We hope you enjoy including them in your designs as much as I enjoy growing them!
A Couple Notes for the Next Few Weeks to our Weekly Customers—
Normal Monday inventory will begin going out on 2/10
This coming Friday 2/7 we are sending a load of our flower to Austin Flower Co., so Austin people, you can snag some then!
Next week Grant will be at the normal spot at Cheri Coffee from 10:30-11 on TUESDAY (2/11), in order to give y'all an extra day to include our flowers in your Valentine's designs.
The following week, we will resume the normal WEDNESDAY (2/19) pickup, same time and place. By then we should have greater volumes of ranunculus, butterfly ranunculus, poppies, anemones, and, of course, more tulips.
Oh, and we had a baby this week! His name is Owen and we are in love with our second baby boy! More to come on his arrival:)
So excited to be back slinging flowers to you guys!
